Maybe Suzie decided it was finally time to end Darlene's suffering. Or maybe, like Han Solo, she felt the conversation had just gotten boring.
Either way, it looks like Darlene gets to enjoy the luxury of being shot in the head. How 'bout that...?
You show the hammer being pulled back, and finger outside the trigger guard, but (apparently), depict the gun being fired. Ever shoot a revolver, single or double action?
We got a bit fancy here, yes. The black inset shape beneath the bang is meant to indicate a 5th panel, coupled with the left to right time-spaciness of Western-style comics. I figured the addition of the CLICK would have eliminated confusion about it happening simultaneously.
Che Guevara and a number of other “practical” (when he wasn’t torturing people – Che liked to brag that torture was his hobby, which makes his popularity on T-shirts all the more alarming) dealers in death likes to avoid the expense of bullets when they could. I suspect our heroine decided to go the way ConcrodBob and Jean Harghel are assuming.

Hmmm…..usually they use a knife to preserve the body for the herd. Is this more of a permanent offing, ala the bolt?

Maybe she felt guilt about Darlene’s predicament and her part in it, and decided to offer Darlene the Emperor’s Peace before she turned??

I’m assuming it was an artistic choice that lets Dawn avoid drawing an extra panel.
